@PAUL50 The BIF images are fantastic — but my mind and eyes keep returning to the Snowy on the post. What a cute little guy. That is the one to go on my wall if I photographed it. Nice shots all!

Thanks. It’s interesting, unless they’re sizing you up as a potential threat or meal, they just have the cutest looking facial expressions. That was the first thing that struck me about them. The second thing I noticed is they all have mustaches covering their mouths. Must be an adaptation for the frozen polar area they live in.

Great shot! It's hard to find them anywhere but on the top of telephone poles. Tell me, are there three females still there? Also, what's the story with the Short Eared Owls. Are they around. I'm thinking of going back first week of February, but I've been told bird population has diminished. Would appreciate your thoughts. Thanks.

Sorry, just saw your post. The birdlife in this area is very fluid. An SEO was seen a few weeks ago, but hasn't been seen since. There are two Snowies that have been fairly constant for the past 10 days and I was told yesterday that there might be a third.

I spent 6 days in the area and was out five of them, including during the storm. It was a little disappointing but it goes with the territory - like fishing! LOL! I did see three Snowys (or the same Snowy three different times) two sightings were just too far away. The other was at a distance being bullied by several dozen crows. May have some interesting shots of that. Saw a couple hawks hovering but again too distant even for my 600 mm with the 1.4 TC attached. And, I blew one opportunity with a hawk by getting too close. No sooner than l left they must have all come out of hiding because I’ve seen a number of great captures in the area on Facebook by people I know work the area. But my previous trip in December was nothing short of amazing with tons of great Snowy shots perched and in flight. I did not see anything I could positively identify as an SEO but thought I might have seen one or two at very great distance. All I could say was they flew like SEOs. I also went down Rte 4 to the cemetery and got some eagle shots along what I think I remember was the Mohawk River. I used to live in Ballston Spa so I am familiar with the area and it’s visissitudes. Photos are downloading now. I’ll post if I’ve got anything good. Thanks
