It's getting towards the end of the year and I thought it would be fun to post some of our best / favorite shots from the last twelve months. Only post images you captured this year and please keep it to eight photos or less (I know, it's tough if it's been a busy year). I can't wait to see what you captured. I'll start with some of my favorites

Steve, your photos are totaly gorgeous! Here is my modest contribution...

I didn't get out as much this year as I usually do, due to bringing home a new puppy in January. Nevertheless, I managed to get some of my favorite shots yet in the limited time I had! I'm particularly proud of that first shot of the ʻiʻiwi. Ended up getting it printed for my wall.

Stunning images! #1, 2 and the last are especially nice!

These are certainly stunning images no doubt. However I find that on these "post your best..." threads that your images quickly get buried as each successive post adds more images. I'm not sure that anyone's "best" images get nearly the attention they deserve as the thread grows to tens or more of pages.

It's just for fun

If someone wants to post a thread with their images so it gets more attention, they are welcome to, even if it's the same pics as here. I think these threads are kind of fun to go through just because it's cool to see everyone's favorites from the year.

Should be interesting (already some fantastic shots posted).

When people are posting the “exposure bias” are you posting the in-camera setting, or LightRoom adjustment or a combination of both?

The EXIF info under the photo shows the camera's exposure comp setting.

The elephant and the flowers do it for me. Wonderful.

Wow...limiting it to only 8 is hard. 1) Sandhill Crane, Bosque del Apache. 2) Sandhill Crane, Ladd S. Gordon Waterfowl Complex. 3. Blackbird, Merced Wildlife Refuge (altered in painterly fashion). 4. Fish Eagle, Africa. 5. Buffalo, Africa. 6. Running Wildebeest, Africa. 7. Baboon Mother and infant, Africa. 8. Wolf on the Move, Yellowstone NP.

Like a lot of photo's, the memory of the event that goes along with them can be more than the photo themselves.

@ccyeung Between the gator getting a feathery snack and the fish looking like it's chasing the eagle, those are two spectacular captures!

Here are a few from Australia.

1) A Peregrine Falcon teaching it's fledgling young to do aerobatics

2) Osprey with catch of the day.

3) Royal Spoonbill in breeding plumage giving a funny pose.

4) Spotted Pardalote - the size of my thumb! One of my favourite birds.

6) Eastern Rosella

7) Platypus - shot at Taronga Zoo but I had to include it as it is so difficult to get a shot of these guys in the wild let alone in a decent pose. Not only that, but they are such a unique animal. Platypus are one of only two mammals that lay eggs but suckle their young with milk, the other being the Echidna (spiny anteater) and both are only found in Australia. This group of animals are callled Monotremes. They are about 350-450mm long (14-16 inches). The Platypus are endemic to eastern Australia and Tasmania only.

8) Echidna - and this is the other monotreme.

Not sure if "shot" can be a video? My favorite image this year was getting a video of a whale lunge feeding:

My favorite photo was of papa white-tailed kite passing a vole to its recently fledged juvenile:

Both were images I have been trying to get for a while.

I find it best to link to a photo hosting site rather than upload. This means you can post a larger image to ensure best viewing for those that have large UHD 4k screens.
