It's getting towards the end of the year and I thought it would be fun to post some of our best / favorite shots from the last twelve months. Only post images you captured this year and please keep it to eight photos or less (I know, it's tough if it's been a busy year). I can't wait to see what you captured. I'll start with some of my favorites :)

Steve, lovely images.Impressive use of light transition from dark to bright. Congratulations!

Stunning images, everyone!

Here are a few from Australia.

4) Spotted Pardalote - the size of my thumb! One of my favourite birds.

7) Platypus - shot at Taronga Zoo but I had to include it as it is so difficult to get a shot of these guys in the wild let alone in a decent pose. Not only that, but they are such a unique animal. Platypus are one of only two mammals that lay eggs but suckle their young with milk, the other being the Echidna (spiny anteater) and both are only found in Australia. This group of animals are callled Monotremes. They are about 350-450mm long (14-16 inches). The Platypus are endemic to eastern Australia and Tasmania only.

All of them are impressive pictures, but having a bias towards birds my preferred one is the Spoted Parladote. A lovely bird, beautiful colors and rendering by the photographer.

Beautiful work folks and Merry Christmas to all!

Here's a few I enjoyed this past year for one reason or another.

One of my favorite things to do this past summer was right in my back yard, love watching the hummingbirds!

You were so lucky to see and to photograph an 'I'iwy! I remember coming back many years ago from Big Island, Hawaii, with a capture of this emblematic bird on a postcard:D

@jadewolf great images but have to ask where are the puppy pics?

Fabulous image

@Cristobal Loved your images; curious more abut when and where and what circumstances this was taken?
Thank you so much ! all three images were taken in Quebec; the first one was in a woodland at the end of july; guided by cries, I surprised two young Great Horned Owl; one of which had captured a grey squirrel, standing a few seconds on a tree, less than thirty feet from me; it was late in the afternoon and there was a soft light coming from behind me. The second image was taken in a field just after a rain in mid june when it's the best time to see and to hear singing this fabulous bird, the indigo bunting. I took the last photo last May in Plaisance National Park located at the border of south-west Quebec and Ontario in a marshy area; from a boardwalk, I distinguished some action in the ferns and little shrubs, not too far from me, realizing later that it was a mink (common in this type of habitat) trying to capture a snake. This mustelidae did not seem to fear my presence and came on a lying trunk, less than fifty feet from me, in order to kill the snake. I was forced to step back in order to capture the scene, before the mink disappears with its prey.
