Either this redstart or the magnolia above would be my favorite single image of the year.

It was a lean year for me this year. Didn't go on any special shoots. Just captured what offered itself up around my normal haunts. Favorites, not necessarily the "best" of the lot. Posted in chronological order.

I haven't looked through all my photos from 2022 yet. These are some that stood out in my first pass as ones I liked for one reason or another. [ edit - not sure why EXIF got stripped. All with Nikon D500. Ladybug was with a 105mm Nikon Micro lens. Rest were shot with 200-500 Nikon lens]

Great Horned owl just dropped a garter snake off at the nest. liked the look on the one baby's face. Mom, you only brought one?

Another mom and baby shot. It was raining this day and the baby was trying to stay dry under mama.

Spring Peeper. These are so loud in the springtime when they are calling for a mate. In reality, they are about the size of my thumb nail.

Osprey coming in for the kill. To the best of my recollection, it did grab a fish on this dive. Light was horrible and I lost in the sun when it came up.

There were 5 eagles this day squabbling over a recently road killed raccoon carcass. This one was the temporary winner and it was defending the kill against all comers. It eventually gave way to another eagle a few minutes later. If you look closely you can see blood on its beak from taking a bite of ripe raccoon.

We all love the image of the majestic buck out in the middle of the field surrounding his kingdom. However, this is by far the most common view we get of whitetail deer.

Magnifiques ces photographies. Magnificent these photographs. Bravo 👏
Despite your limited time, you posted very nice images. Congratulations.
Thanks, all! :D
You were so lucky to see and to photograph an 'I'iwy! I remember coming back many years ago from Big Island, Hawaii, with a capture of this emblematic bird on a postcard
Thanks! They really are very elusive! I was thrilled to get to see them in the wild at last!
@jadewolf great images but have to ask where are the puppy pics?
Your wish is my command!

Stunning images, everyone!

Here are a few from Australia.

4) Spotted Pardalote - the size of my thumb! One of my favourite birds.

7) Platypus - shot at Taronga Zoo but I had to include it as it is so difficult to get a shot of these guys in the wild let alone in a decent pose. Not only that, but they are such a unique animal. Platypus are one of only two mammals that lay eggs but suckle their young with milk, the other being the Echidna (spiny anteater) and both are only found in Australia. This group of animals are callled Monotremes. They are about 350-450mm long (14-16 inches). The Platypus are endemic to eastern Australia and Tasmania only.

Love 'em all but that first shot is a beauty!
