Stopped for some birding on the way home from my wife's brother Pete's celebration of life events the day before. These were taken about a half a mile from where her brother used to live.

Here is the "white bird" (indeed it's all white :p) from Reunion Island.
It's a hopping bird, pretty hard to capture. I was lucky for this shot, it was still for 2 seconds.

Recently in a "Drinks with Steve" session the question was asked, Do you prefer to get an average photo of a rare species or a good photo (or, in the case of Steve, an exceptional shot) of a common species? Steve's answer was that it was better to capture a great image of a common one.

I've been stuck at home recovering from COVID-19. Managed to get my gear onto the tripod and the tripod onto the deck across from our dogwood tree. This guy came and posed. I loved my old 500mm f/4 but I'm glad I have the 500mmPF now, I miss the extra stops but I couldn't manage the weight now...
