400 F/2.8 and 600 F/4 AF Accuracy with TCs poll

If you would like to post, you'll need to register. Note that if you have a BCG store account, you'll need a new, separate account here (we keep the two sites separate for security purposes).

Do you notice a drop in AF accuracy with TCs on the 400 2.8 or 600 F/4? (see post before voting)

Results will also vary of course on whether it's the 1.4 (external/NON built in) OR the 2.0 TC.
From my experience with my Z400TC:

1.4TC Internal/built in
STILLS: ZERO LOSS of AF accuracy
ACTION: ZERO LOSS of AF accuracy

1.4TC External/NON built in WITHOUT INTERNAL
STILLS: Virtually ZERO LOSS of AF accuracy
ACTION: Virtually ZERO LOSS of AF accuracy

2.0TC Without internal 1.4TC
STILLS; Minimal, (slower to lock) LOSS of AF accuracy
ACTION: A more noticeable slower & increased LOSS of AF accuracy, however I'd still rate that loss as more than acceptable and a night and day difference over the F mount 2.0TCIII

All these results are of course very subjective and one's MMV.

Huge difference between the DSLR cameras where one needed to guess the probable camera to subjects distances in inputting the autofocus offset values than a mirrorless camera and lens.

This was readily apparent when I took my wife's Olympus EM-1 camera and attached a new 300m f/4 lens and proceeded to photograph a lizard on a rock wall at a distance of 7 feet at 1/10s and the resulting images were as sharp as any I have seen. The Olympus and this lens have the equivalent of the Nikon Synchro VR with the Z camera and some of the S lenses.

With a teleconverter there is increase image magnification and any shortcomings in user technique becomes readily apparent. This includes subject motion blur with slower shutter speeds. Even with people standing and talking I know I need 1/80s or faster to avoid subject motion blur with the faces. With birds, even when perched on a branch, I need a shutter speed that is fast enough to avoid problems with them moving around.
