Took this yesterday evening it was windy but saw this Long-billed Curlew coming at us as we headed home from checking on some uncooperative Burrowing Owls. I had the D6 with the 600 f/4# in my lap jumped out and stood in the middle of a gravel road and shot this. I am still learning this lens. This was Manual with auto ISO ... ISO 280, f/5.6 and 1/2000 of a second. Should have been 1/3200 and stopped down to f/6.3 or f/7.1. I had shooting sitting birds before the clouds rolled out just before this and forgot to change my settings ... ya think I would know better and be prepared when the light jumped up and I knew I should be ready for a BIF
