A Black-necked Grebe is trying to catch a flying insect

While standing in a cold pond with water almost to the top of my chest waders and with my tripod in the water up to the bottom of the gimbal, I was photographing Black-necked Grebes feeding on insects hatching from the pond. The sun was setting, I was cold and shivering, but I hung in there long enough to get this image.

Awesome shot really love the eye on this!!

Simply stunning! Great field-craft (water-craft), dedication and persistence.

Decisive Moment! How many of us would have the patience to stand in deep water, cold and shivering to get this shot ? After looking at this image and seeing what the possibilities are I think it might motivate more of us. Great image of an Eared Grebe in Breeding Plumage.
