No, it is a Photoshop clone and has something akin to ACR but it isn’t a digital asset manager.Does the Affinity V2 version perform most of the LrC functions? I am tired of renting….
If you would like to post, you'll need to register. Note that if you have a BCG store account, you'll need a new, separate account here (we keep the two sites separate for security purposes).

I have used affinity for years as I am averse to the subscription model. It is not as comprehensive as PS but more than adequate for the amateur photographer. No, it is a Photoshop clone and has something akin to ACR but it isn’t a digital asset manager.

Yes, it's not an asset manager. But for cataloging and keywording I use the free version of bridge. They complement each other.
Yes. You can edit a photo in affinity via Photos. I’ve done it several times. Also true for Topaz.I canceled LrC recently. Does the Affinity editing program interface or work with Apple Photos?
I’ll check out Topaz….thanks! I do NOT need or want a catalogue editing program and LrC forces that on you so I’m looking for an alternative…Yes. You can edit a photo in affinity via Photos. I’ve done it several times. Also true for Topaz.
Topaz does specific things to enhance photos like remove noise, sharpen and add pixels. It is not a general photo editing program.I’ll check out Topaz….thanks! I do NOT need or want a catalogue editing program and LrC forces that on you so I’m looking for an alternative…
One caution, if you do edits in Apple Photos or any other program and then edit in Affinity from within Apple Photos (round trip) when you get it opened in Affinity, it reverts back to the original image. Caution here is edit in Affinity first then you can do other edits in Apple Photos or something like Pixelmator Pro after editing in Affinity. I know it sounds convoluted but hope I explained it clearly.Yes. You can edit a photo in affinity via Photos. I’ve done it several times. Also true for Topaz.
Right, although generally if I'm editing in Affinity from Photos I'm not planning on doing anything else with it. I've mostly done it for IR conversions. I'll use a 720nm IR filter on my phone and then do the channel swap in Affinity via Photos. One caution, if you do edits in Apple Photos or any other program and then edit in Affinity from within Apple Photos (round trip) when you get it opened in Affinity, it reverts back to the original image. Thanks Jeff… Affinity seems to have everything I need going forward…One caution, if you do edits in Apple Photos or any other program and then edit in Affinity from within Apple Photos (round trip) when you get it opened in Affinity, it reverts back to the original image. Another option is Pixdlmaor Pro. Some simple edit things there are a lot easier than Affinity. I use both. Apple recently bought Pixelmator Pro so integration should be more seamless moving forward or maybe Apple Photos will be more like Pixelmator. Thanks Jeff… Affinity seems to have everything I need going forward…
cool. Just wanted to offer that tip so others could avoid the frustration I had the first couple times it happened to me.Right, although generally if I'm editing in Affinity from Photos I'm not planning on doing anything else with it. Thanks! Bought the V2 today to get the $35 deal and dumped the Adobe subscription…. Now the learning curve starts!Another option is Pixdlmaor Pro. Affinity is a good program. It does a whole lot more than I ever need it to do. The inpainting brush and the clone tools work very well. Also I like the live layers.
