Not Canadian, but my two cents: I preordered from Precision Camera in Austin in March, prior to the actual announcement. I was told I was first on the list but it actually turned out I was apparently fifth (maybe NPS people were put ahead of me, or perhaps friends of the store personnel). So far they have received one (1) lens. I paid a $700 deposit. This is one of those things where hey, I can easily live without another long lens indefinitely; I am not "suffering." But it does make one wonder what is going on. How can people get all excited about other Nikon new product announcements (e.g., the 400mm f4.5), let alone products that have not even been announced (e.g., the 200-600mm) when Nikon clearly is having all kinds of issues getting already-announced products manufactured and shipped?
I always feel obligated to semi-apologize for these kinds of rants, given the horrific state of the nation and the world in so many ways, and that my own life is fairly comfortable, save for my still languishing in the lingering aftermath of having Covid, which I caught from my "nice" in-laws at a destination wedding in Mendocino a few weeks ago. Hey, at least I am alive and able to be grumpy at my laptop on a Saturday morning.
