Any problems with using FTZ adapter + teleconverter + F mount lens on Z cameras?

I just updated my Z7 to firmware version 3.70. My FTZ adapter worked fine identifying non-cpu lense information. Now when attaching a non cpu lenses I get F--. Contacted Nikon their response: How about looking into your firmware update, Nikon. The FTZ worked fine before your firmware update.

Thank you for contacting Nikon.

I have received your concerns, after further research I suggest you save your customize settings to your memory card. Then, perform an reset to all user settings or a two button reset.

That could also be a problem with the apperture of the non-CPU lens. Check the control ring position and apperture, had the same problem once and it turned out the apperture sensing lever was stuck. Moving it around manually solved the problem.

To avoid a possible mistake - only F mount TCs can be used with F mount lenses.

Z mount TC's (like F mount TCs) have protruding front elements that do not fit into the space on the rear of an FTZ.
In my "test" last night there was no difference between a Z and an adapted F on a Z9.

Sorry - on my calibrated monitor the right image has the highest contrast by a nose, the central image is a whisker behind, and the left hand image is more behind.
There is also an exposure difference of around half a stop between the 3 images.

Are your Fmount non-CPU lenses still listed in the SETUP menu list (numbered 1-20, in which one enters respective fields for exif)? The Z7 needs this information for the selected lens to set the smallest F-stop (=largest aperture) and should then show the aperture settings, focal length etc in the exif data of each image, if you select the lens dataset.

I’ve been using the original FTZ with my Z7 and the sigma 24-105 and sigma 150-600 and have had no issues. The sigma 1.4 TC also works well with these combinations.
