Are Focus Point Joysticks On the Way Out?

Could be wrong but I believe the Nikon Zf is the only Nikon that allows you to look through the viewfinder while simultaneously using the rear LCD panel as a touch pad for moving the focus point and that function has to be enabled in the menu.

You are right. The Z9 doesn’t allow us to use the LCD as a track pad to move AF points when shooting through the EVF. Many of the competitors cameras offer this feature and I find it extremely handy. In fact this is one of the firmware update wish list item some of us sent to Brad Hill.

I do a lot of focus stacking for landscaoe and find the joystick helpful for getting the close focus point in the ballpark.
