B&W for high-contrast pic in brutal sun

Steve, I just wanted to thank you for your video on using B&W for high-contrast images that are "ruined" by the brutal conditions. I had a wonderful close encounter with an enormous sow black bear that spent the morning feeding on corn on the cob. She refused to seek shade even though the sun was beating down. When she couldn't take it any more, she cooled her heels in a muddy creek where I took this picture. I hated everything about my pics. The sun reflected off every highlight in her dark fur and overexposed her face and the creek was a dirty, distracting and unappealing brown. But when I converted it to B&W, the imperfections were less bothersome to me and I ended up making a canvas print of this one. Great advice!
