I am looking forward suggestions for a backpack that will hold my 180-600mm lens mounted to my Z6 body. Thanks in advance for your recommendations.
If you would like to post, you'll need to register. Note that if you have a BCG store account, you'll need a new, separate account here (we keep the two sites separate for security purposes).

Thank you!Shimoda Action X70 HD and still have plenty of room for lenses, accessories, stuff and a laptop.
Glad to be of service!Thank you!
Thanks for the tip. I’ll check it out.Another option - Thinktank Streetwalker Harddrive. I have Z9 with Z180-600 mounted, plus room for several other lenses, flash, etc. And it's the Harddrive version, so space for a laptop.
Thanks. I’ll check it out.Lowepro Flipside 400AW III is a decent option. Have had it for a couple of years now and while not as good as the original 400AW, it has grown on me.
I’ll check that out. Thanks.Don't (yet) have any long glass for my Z9 but I've used the Think Tank Photo Glass Limo Backpack with my Nikon D6/500mm f/4E FL combo, body attached, with good success.
The 500 f/4E FL lens is a bit longer than the Z 180-600 (15.25" versus 13.5") so on the Z9 it should fit quite nicely.
Thanks. I’ll take a look at it.Lowepro 650aw II or Gitzo adventury 45L
From what I can tell, the CL-L2 is to carry the lens only. I’m looking for suggestions options to carry it mounted to the camera body.Nikon CL-L2 is perfect for the lens, great size, loads of padding, but sadly not a lot of room for anything else.
You can carry it with hood attached normally as well.
If you measure the length of the lens and the camera body you can then go to the BH Photo website and use their filters for length, width, and depth to get a short list of backpacks. Takes about 5 minutes to do this and I use this process for every bag and backpack I have bought from them in the past 30 years.I am looking forward suggestions for a backpack that will hold my 180-600mm lens mounted to my Z6 body. Sorry your ibex outing was a bust. My use case is more along the lines of having the camera and lens packed away while driving to my destination. Once I’m there, I have a shoulder strap that I can comfortably use while in the field. But I’d rather have the lens mounted, so I don’t have to do that after getting to my destination, in case of blowing dust, rain, etc.I’m in same boat, I recently went on hike looking for ibex and stuffed lens with Z8 attached into a Think Tank Digital Holster 30 (without lens hood, and camera sticking out a bit) and carried in a Boundary Supply Errant Backpack (20l). Not ideal, but it worked and size was fairly small overall and still had room for rain parka, hat, gloves, water bottle, first aid kit but not much else. So need to consider what else besides Zx + 186 you want to carry and if you want lens hood in ready to shoot deployment. I don’t find any of the camera specific bags suitable from a hiking perspective and am looking at a ski mountaineering pack with back zipper opening and a third part icu, I’ll post my solution once I have it figured out but curious what others find works. Note, my outing was a bust, never saw an ibex and never took camera out of bag, so thinking I need to also carry at least say a 105 macro so I could at least get some photos of lichen or mushrooms haha.

Thanks, Patrick. That helps a lot.THE cl-l2 can very easily carry the lens with camera attached. There’s plenty of room. There’s plenty of thick wrap-around padding and a Velcro strap to hold everything rock solid.

Thanks, Patrick. That helps a lot.
I also have a Thank T 150. Z9 w/186 , hood reversed fits, but barely. A screw-on filter will also fit.I realize that you're asking for info on a backpack, but.....Think Tank Photo also makes the Digital Holster 150. It's designed to carry a camera body attached to a 150-600mm lens. I can fit a Z8 mounted to a 180-600 mm lens in the holster. It's snug but it works nice.
