That’s good info, but I think I prefer a backpack. Thanks.I realize that you're asking for info on a backpack, but.....Think Tank Photo also makes the Digital Holster 150. It's designed to carry a camera body attached to a 150-600mm lens. I can fit a Z8 mounted to a 180-600 mm lens in the holster. It's snug but it works nice.

Great! Thanks for the info. I’ll check it out.+1
I have the Gura Gear Kiboko 22L+ and keep my Z8 attached to the 180-600 with hood reversed. Fits perfectly.
I am looking forward suggestions for a backpack that will hold my 180-600mm lens mounted to my Z6 body. Thanks in advance for your recommendations.
Thanks, Ken.I purchased a Lowepro Flipside BP 300 AW lll. Have used it on several trips, both flying and road trips. It works very well with my Z6II w/Tamron 150-600 (with hood reversed). Alternatively it also works well with the Z6II and a Nikon 24-120 f4 plus a Nikon 28-400. For me and my needs at least it is a great design and works extremely well.
Thanks, JMac. Looks interesting.
Thank you, Vinny.I use the MindShift Trailscape 18L and it's well made for my purposes. It has a waist strap for hiking, it gets heavy when full. It also has decent pockets for little stuff like batteries, memory cards, wipes, etc. The side pockets can hold a waterbottle or monopod and or a tripod.

I have a z8 with the 186 mounted in an airport commuter, and thinktank streetwalker pro v2.0I am looking forward suggestions for a backpack that will hold my 180-600mm lens mounted to my Z6 body. Thanks in advance for your recommendations.
Thanks for the images- heard from a Nikon rep it is good_ no owners yet but you.THE cl-l2 can very easily carry the lens with camera attached. There’s plenty of room. There’s plenty of thick wrap-around padding and a Velcro strap to hold everything rock solid.

Yes, there are a lot of choices. That’s why I wanted input from owners.I have a z8 with the 186 mounted in an airport commuter, and thinktank streetwalker pro v2.0
Quite a few bags will actually fit this lens and camera body. I went googling but at times you need to ask the bag owneYes, there are a loot of choices
That’s good to know. I am zeroing in on that bag.Think Tank Backlight 18L works great with the Z8 and the 180-600
"186" = 180-600? I'm looking for a holster/toploader that will take my z9+180-600. The ThinkTank folk tell me they don't market anything suitable, but i'm wondeiring if i can't squeeze that setup into a TT150? Be good if you could confirm...I also have a Thank T 150. Z9 w/186 , hood reversed fits, but barely. A screw-on filter will also fit.
Nikon CL-L2 has plenty of room with hood reversed (stowed position). I don't think it fits overall length-wise with hood attached.

Yes 186=180-600. It's fits snuggly. More so with a screw on filter."186" = 180-600? I'm looking for a holster/toploader that will take my z9+180-600. Good to know. I’m leaning towards the Backlight 18L.I use Think Tank Backlight 36L. Holds camera, lens and a lot more if you need it. I absolutely love this bag.
It is interesting how manufacturers change dimensions when making “improvements” for a newer version.Only marginally off topic, but since some folk have addressed this helpfully already...
I was poised to buy a Think Tank 150 to take my Z9+180-600. However, it looks like the current V3 model may be slightly smaller than the previous V2 -- the V2 is no longer listed on the Think Tank site (afaik), but i stumbled across a vendor's listings that suggest that the internal depths are 38 and 39 cm, respectively. Given comments about how snug the fit is (for unspecified version, but i'm guessing V2), I'm wondering if the V3 will actually take my gear? Anyone got any experience/insight into this?
Thanks for that input. I have actually ordered a Backlight 18L.I have the ThinkTank MindShift Backlight 18L. It will hold the Z9 and 180-600mm, either together or apart, with room for a couple extra items. Fantastic backpack: well made, tough material, comfortable carry! I’ve used mine for over 3-1/2 years and completely satisfied. If you get a larger bag, you may end up putting more weight than you want to carry.
I’m sure you’ll be happy with the choice! Thanks for that input. I have actually ordered a Backlight 18L.
