Backpack with laptop compartment?

If you would like to post, you'll need to register. Note that if you have a BCG store account, you'll need a new, separate account here (we keep the two sites separate for security purposes).

thank you all for the suggestions. do you guys think i should bring my laptop and a lens body to B&H, and try it out in person?
Backpacks are kind of like shopping for a dishwasher. You can research the specs and measure all you want, but there is no substitute for bringing your gear (or dishes) into the store and seeing how they fit.

I have the Thinktank Backlight 36L and it fits my 16 inch MacBook Pro M1 just fine. It also took my F mount 600 f/4 VR when I had it. With my new kit, I can put my Z8, Z800pf, Z180-600, Z24-120 and all my chargers and accessories without a problem. It is also a very comfortable backpack with great adjustability. I have carried it on planes many times and it fits just fine in an overhead bin. However, it will not fit in the overhead bin of a regional jet as it is too deep so I recently bought a Gura Gear Kiboko 2 30L+ which is a little slimmer and still takes all my gear. Plus I love the butterfly pockets. I believe the Gura Gear City 18L also takes a 16 inch laptop but may not fit the rest of your kit. As for price, the best bags, made out of the best, lightest materials are going to be expensive.

Hi there,

I’m looking for recommendations for a daily backpack that can accommodate a 16-inch MacBook Pro and a Z8 with a 400mm f/4.5 lens attached.

Thanks in advance!
I have both a Gura Gear 30L and 22L. Both hold my 16" laptop and much more gear than this. I've had a Z8 + 5 lenses in the 22L, for example. With the 30L, I've had both the Z8 and Z9 and multiple lenses, including a 400mm f/2.8.

Thanks!

Would it hold the 600mm f4 (z) too?

I am actually trying to find the smallest possible backpack that can hold 16” and a lens attached body for day to day use during my commute

It would hold the 600 f/4 Z not mounted on a body.

I have had the 400 f/2.8 Z in the backpack on both the Z8 and Z9. It takes up one side of the bag, but leaves the other side free.

One quesiton

Does the backpack come with some dividers or I need to buy them myself, if I just wanna put one camera with it without lens attached?
They come with a bunch of dividers. You can remove them all, or any subset, except for the main one that runs down the middle from top to bottom.

Here's their product detail page with some good pictures...
