Several days ago, I noticed this banded fishing spider (Dolomedes vittatus) guarding her young. Big girl - leg span ~ 2 1/2 - 3 inches. Was less than satisfied with the results (several show below) so I thought I'd give it a try again this afternoon. No better, unfortunately. So I decided to try my first ever focus stack - nothing to loose. After watching for an hour, she finally positioned herself for this frontal portrait. Didn't have the speed/aperture set optimally but pretty pleased with the result. Hopefully, one of the other stacks I shot will show her fangs a little more clearly. May take the D850/105mm out tomorrow for a stack, provided if she's still around ...
