Did they get their meal?
They got a meal, but it wasn't this California sea lion. From what we could tell, the sea lion survived as we saw it swimming away and the pod then went after a smaller prey. They did get something as the seagulls were going crazy feeding on something that was floating to the surface.
Without moving the boat more than a couple hundred yards, we also had a single humpback and then 2 humpbacks (mom and calf) go by all at about the same time the Biggs were hunting. Just the 2nd time I've seen Biggs and humpbacks in the same local water at the same time - both times in the San Juans.
