I don’t think it’s mundane at all. you’ve got the “golden hour” light thing working for you with the side light and included the gooses’(don’t know the possessive tense for goose, excuse me) habitat as part of the picture. You didn’t crop too tight, looks fine… 
I think it is a goose. I am not much on bird ID.
