Gulls don't get much love. This is a fine specimen! Here is a Gull that earned his photograph by being the only bird out there and circling down low near me a few times on July 18th.

Seeing all the fantastic posts on the Hummers thread I figured another popular area for wildlife photos is Birds in Flight. Anyone interested in sharing BIF photos?
I'll kick it off with this Great Egret captured this morning down by the Snake River. It was well past sunrise when I came across this guy fishing along the bank of a small side channel. The sun was getting pretty high in the sky but we've got a lot of smoke from Western forest fires which diffuses the light a bit (can't even see the Tetons from Jackson right now) so I thought I'd give it a go. I sure wish he'd flown towards me but I really liked the darker mountainside across the river as a background.

So what are folks capturing for Birds in Flight?
Best pigeon in flight I have seen. Sharp and colorful. Nice catch.I'd love to add some. Here is a bird though not very glamorous makes for great bif practice as they can be plentiful in many of the countries town squares and parks.View attachment 1209
Yes even a 'common' Gull against a nice soft background as this and with fine detail looks great. Gulls get no love!Took a walk with the Sony down to the reservoir and snapped a few shots of the Gulls and Terns this afternoon. This one is kinda pretty I think.
