I'm assuming that he punctured a vital organ with the fangs that he does have. It actually happens all the time to baby snakes.If the snake is not venomous how could one bite kill it??
Yes that's exactly what I learned when I did my research after I found him.Snakes can and do kill themselves from the physical injury incurred from self bites. Venomous snakes are not only immune to their own venom but many are immune to the venom of other species of snakes -- so can't poison themselves to death with a bite.
