Bread Pay

Nikon just came out with 0% interest with bread pay. Looking to jump to a Z8. I've tried it twice and the say they have no plans for me try again later. My credit score is 800+. Does anyone know how this works I'd like to take advantage of the 0% interest. Thanks in advance.

Same. I've given up on buying through NikonUSA for anything other than the occasional refurb item.

Another interesting thing is they gave me their custom score. {Your custom credit score as of 07-18-2024: 433} Where do they come up with this custom score of 433 when all three credit agency's have me at over 800. Something is not right here.

All I’d say is to check the terms including what happens if you’re late on a payment or don’t pay off in the zero percent window. Reading their summary terms where they have interest rates ranging from zero percent to 34.99% raises concerns. I’ve seen plenty of these plans where you’re fine if everything is on time and you complete the payments in the zero percent window but nail you with crazy rates if anything else happens.

No personal experience with breadpay, it could be a great program but check carefully before you commit.

I bought my Z8 and Z24-120 from Nikon USA using Bread pay with 24 months at 0%. I then set up an autopay so I never miss a payment and trigger the onerous interest and penalties ect. So far I have had no issues. Based on your experience, it sounds like something is off with Bread's retrieval of your credit score which is why it is not offering you any programs. Is there a number you can call? Hope it all works out for you.

Not sure about other major dealers but I mostly buy new Nikon gear from Adorama and accrue rewards points. Just used a bunch of points to save $50 off of a $200 memory card. Seems to be a nice bonus considering the prices are the same as NikonUSA.

If they are giving you a great deal, someone else is paying for it. As DrWyoming says, check the terms. One slip and you may find yourself pay 30+% interest.

If you live in a high sales state, consider a B&H PayBoo card and then pay the card off immediately. Only down side is that B&H is a very popular site so there is often a long line for back ordered items.

Amazon rolled out something like that, multiple rates, no interest, recently. Nice to use if you have the cash available anyway, because not streching the cash flow, because that's what it is, out without creating any financial risks? I'd never take a credit for a purchase of any kind so, except for a house or other real estate.

could be that they don't want to give you an interest free loan. Want to charge you interest.

If they aren't approving you I think they are obligated to tell you why, and which credit bureau is giving you the low score. I once had trouble getting DirecTV -- they said they couldn't get a credit score on me. After some digging and getting a hold of the right credit bureau, I found that their records listed me as deceased! (They had me mixed up with my father). Took some doing to get it all straightened out.

I use B&H and Payboo. I think they have an interest free option? I take the no sales tax option and pay it off right away. I guess I'm lucky that my photo stuff isn't a necessity and I can afford to just pay for my "toys". I love not paying the sales tax. When I bought my Z9 (along with necessary accessories) I went to a local camera shop next state over and paid over $400 in sales tax. Geeze, I might have been able to buy a lens or something.

MY PLENA is now projected to arrive MONDAY MORNING. I am putting the bread pay on automatic payments until I get gear sold and pay it down and off.

I think Bread is the backer of the B & H in store CC. I've been using it since I bought my Z 9 and Z lenses. Take a look at it via B&H I have saved a hell of a lot of California State Taxes but I have never financed as the interest rate seems a bit too high for me. FYI, I only buy when I have the money to avoid financing.

Check the boiler plate conditions very, very carefully, buyer beware applies.

Best of luck.

My 600mm f6.3 is due to arrive Monday. I used Bread Pay which allows 0% interest over two years. Substantial savings over PayBoo interest and no taxes, but I just bought a
Z 20mm f1.8 S, and fed my OM-1 system lens family so I don't want to kick out more cash now.

They gave me their custom score. {Your custom credit score as of 07-18-2024: 433} at that time I wasn't able to use it. I reapplied a day later and everything went through fine. I had been turned down a month earlier with their custom score even though all the credit bureau's had me at over 800

So, I noticed this offer through Nikon that pops up every now and then and I was just curious if there were any caveats or stipulations associated with 12/24 month 0% APR financing through them? My only experience with something like this is with PayPal credit's "no interest if paid in 6 months" deal where it's pretty much face value. I was wondering if it's similar to PayPal in how they operate or do you get a heavy penalty for missing a monthly payment or something. I am interested in the Z6 III and I can pay in full, but I definitely don't want to take up an offer with some heavy stipulations and risks attached

Did a similar route a few weeks ago. Z8 through Nikon using BreadPay (and trade-in). Was a smooth experience. Including the trade-in, which they did a good job communicating about since the payments aren't reduced until they receive the item being traded in.

For the memory card I went with Delkin Devices 150GB Black CFexpress Type B.

Consider your battery solution. I went through two in six hours of casual shooting. I just bought a third Nikon EN-EL15c.

I also bought the Nikon UC-E25 USB Cable so I can charge the battery by hooking the USB-C cord up to the body. The cord it comes with apparently isn't able to charge the battery.
