The Chaco Culture National Historical Park is a World Heritage Site located a long way off the paved roads in New Mexico. It is a beautiful combination of color, scenery and Native American Culture dating back over 1000 years. The rock colors are gorgeous with many shades of red plus more. The ruins against the canyon backdrops make for a great place to absorb the setting, the color and to capture a few snaps. No clouds, bright sun, really dry and pure blue sky.

That's just fantastic. All the flat stone of ruins, found and placed by hand.. man o man
Thanks for posting, nice images
Thank you. When you look closely at the surrounding formations you can see the layers and how the rock could be cut, split or fractured into the layers. Really interesting to see.

Nice to see some one shoot this. My wife’s great grandfather was murdered there. Did you see the Weatherill grave? Lots of history there and at Mesa Verde.
I saw the signs but did not visit the gravesite. He was a significant part of the early work at several sites. Interesting and important family history. We have also been to Mesa Verde - another of his efforts. Significant family history must make the site visits special.

Yes his discovery at Mesa Verde led to the Antiquities Act by Roosevelt (I think) protecting historical artifacts ever since. There have been a number of family reunions there with some incredible stories.

Wonderful images, showing the history and beauty of the native American Indians. Far more mistreated than almost any other non-indigenous people in North America. Early US actions toward the American Indian and its culture were aimed at eradicating it.....

Great shots. We were there this past August but the roads to the park were impassable due to recent rains. Your captures sealed the deal to go back! Very well done, thanks for sharing.

We saw the after effects with areas washed out and not all of hte road in good shape. There were a couple of spots we were very careful on. It is abnsolutely worth the drive. Thanks for the positive comment.
