An open field in a Washington State wildlife refuge was a perfect spot for this coyote to hunt voles for dinner.
I rarely use 1120 mm but this coyote was a long ways away and there was no way I was going to get any closer. Hand held came out better than I expected for such a long focal length.
Looking to hunt or looking at you?
I watched him pounce twice. At least once he came up with a vole. He stopped every couple of minutes to be sure there was nothing around him to worry about. They always know when you are anywhere near, even at 100 to 150 yards.
