This is an Andean Motmot. The shot was taken with a Canon R5, 100-500 mm @500 mm, f/7.1, ISO 5000, at a distance of about 5 meters. The bird is sitting on a fence post (not very picturesque). Unfortunately his eye was pretty much centered in the frame when I composed the shot. I cropped this shot about to about 2/3 original frame, mainly from the right side keeping a 1:1 ratio. My question is, should I crop more from the top or ?. It would require going to a custom ratio (which I have no problem with as I rarely print). Also a second question, would you remove the dragon fly wing from his beak? I just missed him swallowing the insect.
