Deal Alert - Delkin CFexpress Cards

If you would like to post, you'll need to register. Note that if you have a BCG store account, you'll need a new, separate account here (we keep the two sites separate for security purposes).

The Delkin black express cf type B G4 is announced on B&H and the price is low compare to the G3. I think we will see more of the 3G on sale in next few weeks.
The 1.3 TB G4 is announced at 645 $ for preorder on B&H.

That's interesting that the new, faster card is set to sell at less then the cost of the current generation (prior to today's Deal Zone sale.)..makes me wonder if I should rethink and cancel this purchase... I wonder what the price will return to tomorrow when the Deal Zone offer has expired. I can't image it will go back to price higher than the next generation is set to be released at for the same capacity card.

Check the B&H web for all these card. If you don’t need a 1.3 Tb and 325 Gb is enough then it is good deal for it. Me, I never have enough space while I am shooting, so I will wait for the 1.3 Tb and get it start to ship.

The upcoming G4 card has a slightly lower sustained write speed than the current version (1450 MB/s vs 1530 MB/s). However the G4 card is reported to run cooler during sustained write operation. When it’s released I suspect the G4 card will provide better value, in particular for Z8 owners.

Better value for Z8 owners due to running cooler?

The sustained write speed for the 1.3 Tb is 1560

I must admit I don't know much about CFExpress cards. What's the difference?
i think the Delkin Black is better quality and does not heat. I am not sure if that is the difference.
i only use the Delkin black and I am happy with their performance. I think also the Delkin Black support better 8 k videos

You can get more information on Delkin's website: https://www.delkindevices.com/
I thought they had a page that compared the Delkin Black and Delkin Power product lines but I don't see it anywhere. They have updated their site for the new G4 series, maybe they deleted that page or I saw it somewhere else. Look under 'Products' then Memory Cards. All the specs are there.

The card I referred as “upcoming” is this one. It’s not available for sale yet.

Yes, and the one I ordered is this one:

Which is now back to it's original price and more than double what it was on sale for yesterday. The specs between the two are not that different and I haven't noticed any excessive heat issues with the 150GB versionI I bought last month so I'll consider it a good deal. It still surprising that the next generation is set to launch at such a drop in price from the current one right out of the gate.

I ordered a couple of cards, the 150GB Black, too bad I can't trade in older cards...Ha! Ha!. I remember when I first got a 128GB card (I had several 32GB cards at that time) and someone said to me "you shouldn't do that because you'll lose all your images if you lose that one card." Now we're looking at up to 650GB cards...sometimes it's hard to keep up with all the changes that are happening so quickly. I'm also going to experiment with shooting like the "old days," i.e., not shooting so many images of the same thing on high speed as it uses up a 128GB card quickly. Life's a learning experience. Thanks, Patrick, for the heads-up as I was going to order some kind of cards today.

i didn't realize the info for a new black was out.

it's interesting the performance isn't much different than the current black. current black 650GB card is 1530 MB/s min, new 1.3TB card is 1560 MB/s min.

pricing does look better than the older model. wonder about the thermals

I already have two of these Delkin Black 325GB cards, but ordered two more with the sale. They should arrive tomorrow (if FedEx can actually meet a delivery schedule).
