So, Steve: When using your a9ii, do you typically use electronic shutter (vs. mechanical) for BIF and other moving animals? Are there times when you use mechanical, and why?Depends on the camera. The a9ii has a fast enough readout that rolling shutter isn't a big deal - I've never had an issue with it anyway. On the other hand, the Z cameras have a slower readout and there is potential for rolling shutter issues with faster moving wings. I typically use the mechanical shutter for BIF with the Zs.
I don't know if I've ever used the mechanical shutter in the a9ii - the electronic one has never given me an issue, even with fast subjects. The only reason I can see to use the mechanical shutter is for flash photography. So, Steve: When using your a9ii, do you typically use electronic shutter (vs. mechanical) for BIF and other moving animals?
