I was bummed not to get a barking gecko. Didn’t even see one. Lots of lions though who were enjoying the very thirsty prey animals.

I get that. they are SO not easy to find (for me anyway)
I had someone point one out to me.

Elsa - I grew-up with them, but no clue as to where the name Klaasneus comes from. The last time I saw one was about 30 years ago in Mpumalanga.
I'm sure you know they are not rodents but insect eaters - ants are high on their menu.

Great shot! Interestingly enough, many of you probably know this, but I just recently became aware of the "Little Five". Most of us are aware of the Africa "Big Five"; elephant, leopard, buffalo, lion, and rhino. The "Little Five" are the Leopard Tortoise, Ant Lion, Rhino Beatle, Buffalo Weaver, and yes, the Elephant Shrew. Great job!

Most of us are aware of the Africa "Big Five"; elephant, leopard, buffalo, lion, and rhino. The "Little Five" are the Leopard Tortoise, Ant Lion, Rhino Beatle, Buffalo Weaver, and yes, the Elephant Shrew. Great job!

In the Luangwa Valley they are very common @ dusk/evening scurrying around the tracks.
