Quittinirpaaq National Park backpacking, Tanquary Fiord (81.40 deg N), July 2018.
After camping at Roll Rock River (saw 3 muskox) we decided to hike 500 meters up to a ridge. A few flakes of snow, hail at top. Took some panos, Omega Lakes, Red Rock Glacier.

Nice pictures of a very bleak place. Imagine living there.
The Inuit have lived in the northern part, maybe 5,000 and 2,000 years ago. Currently there is an Inuit hamlet, Grise Fiord (pop 129) on the south coast.

Canada has a military base, Alert, on the northeast corner. You can see it in Google Earth. A gravel runway and 3 buildings -kitchen/dining, bunks, and another for storage (fuel barrels, snowplow etc.). Tanqary Camp and Alert are open from mid-May to Mid September.

It took 5 days to get there, from Montreal to Tanqary Camp, including 2 nights in Iqaluit. See route.
