Fluid Head Users: Do you buy multiple plates or convert to Arca Swiss?

If you would like to post, you'll need to register. Note that if you have a BCG store account, you'll need a new, separate account here (we keep the two sites separate for security purposes).

I use this larger RRS panning clamp with screw knob on a Miller CX2 fluid head with 75mm bowl. I keep the bowl insert permanently mounted to the head and simply swap it out with a center column and its own tripod insert which is very quick on either the compact Gitzo 4 series 5 section, or 5 series giant 6 section.

With the rather tall Miller head, this tripod is truly ideal height and stout while also incredibly compact when folded, 19".

I also use these on the most of the outdoor tripods:

I bought a bag of 6 Manfroto six sided plates for $50 from Robert's after I found a Manfroto 3063 fluid head on ebay in perfect shape for $25. Y'all keep doing that Arca-Swiss thing!

I use adapters that I can mount on a Sachtler video head to clamp on a Arca Swiss foot. I use ones from Nicyrig and others but the best I have found is the iShoot quick release adapter sold on Amazon for $22.

I have the Peak Design Dual Plate for my Z Nikons which works on both Arca Swiss and Manfrotto. For my long lenses I have a longer Arca Swiss Plate for balancing the camera/lens combination.
