Yup, both my D800 and D3s were prone to that in the shadows. That's one of the big improvements I've seen with the D850 sensor, lack of magenta in the deep shadows on night shots.
I've seen many star trail shots Dave and that one is fantastic, thanks for sharing it!

DRWHOMING, I had the same problems with my D800's Also. Someone Pointed that out to me a few weeks back.
