Gull vs. Alewife

Shot these up in Maine last week. The Alewives are running and was waiting for some Osprey/Eagle activity when I noticed these Herring Gulls swallowing the Alewives whole. I couldn't believe they went down! Light was kind of harsh at the time.

Gulls are garbage disposal. They will swallow anything that they think is food.

Wow! I once watched a gull do that with a piece of pizza it stole from oblivious teenagers at the beach.
