Hats/shades for photography, suggestions - what do you wear?

I use a Tilley LTM8 Airflow. It has more mesh and a slightly wider brim than the LTM6. I have a family history of melanoma and have used a Tilley for 20 years or more. I also have an LTM6.

The extra wide brim of the LTM8 or even the LTM6 are a bit too wide for windy conditions. The neck strap works - and I use it - but high winds are not typical for me.

Tilley hats do need special attention to size selection - the sizing is more precise than most hats. But they last almost forever. I've been wearing mine for over 15 years, washed it 50 times or more, and it still looks fine with minimal sign of wear. The hats are slightly water repellant and provide a bit of warmth in cold weather.

@Lance B mentioned a feature on the hats he suggested I didn't; the Tilley also has the ability to "squash" flat to store in luggage or your backpack. I've had decent wind performance with the LTM6 if I secure the back strap behind the lower curve of my head and keep the front strap reasonably snug under my chin. It works well even out on a boat with a brisk wind and though the brim can flap, the hat stays on. With pale Irish skin I make a couple visits a year to have AK's frozen off before they become a problem and keeping a hat on when on a windy boat with bright sun is important for my health.

I wear one of these.

The Shelta Hats are good (I both them for my sons) but they have plastic in the brim which means no flexibility.
