Holden Beach NC Area

My wife and I are going to be at a family reunion in Holden Beach, NC next week. We won’t have a ton of time to do nature photography. Are there any “must see” areas there to help us narrow down a morning or evening for photography? I have heard this is turtle nesting season and some photos of that may be interesting from a safe distance. Wouldn’t want to disturb them in any way.

I’m more familiar with the area near Wilmington, which is kind of near Holden Beach.

I would recommend Fort Fisher State Recreation Area or Airlie Gardens. Both would be around an hour drive for you from Holden Beach area, not sure if that would be something you’d have time for.
