How do you carry your Z 400 2.8 lens and camera "ready to shoot" when walking?

The Kirk Security Strap SS-1 has a padded section for the strap and a Arca-Swiss clamp that attached to the foot of the lens. I have the strap over my head so it cannot slide off my shoulder.

There is zero chance of a quick release attachment coming undone and having the lens and camera crash to the ground. The lens is at waist height and I use one hand to steady the lens and I carry the tripod in my other hand. I did this for years with a 15 lb 600mm f/4 and camera rig. I find it much easier to detach the heavy lens and camera from the tripod when moving to a new location. I tried shoulder pads and other approached to having the weight on one shoulder but it was awkward and uncomfortable.
