I am drawn to swamps and wetlands

There is just something about swamps and wetlands that draws me in. I can't explain it but I can spend hours meandering around the wetlands and swamps. These shots are from last weekend in the Cache River Wetlands in S.W. Illinois, USA>

Me too.

Im curious about the yellow flowers. Are those beggars ticks? Reason I ask, is that ours were in full bloom on 9/22 this year, and are mostly gone now. I haven't seen a rose mallow in bloom in over a month now.

I don't know enough about plant life and am guessing that if these are the same species I have in Humphreys county MS, that the difference in timing is due to my more southern growing season starting earlier in the year than yours? But that's just a guess to something I've never ever considered before.

In addition to sharing some beautiful shots, this is interesting to me. Thanks.
