Left or Right?

I noticed that she looks through the viewfinder with her left eye. I use my right. I was wondering which eye, you use?

Everyone has a dominant eye that the body/brain will use as the primary naturally. I'm left eyed.

You can find out what your dominant eye is by looking at something like a street light or tree with both eyes open, then close one eye. If the object stays in the same place your open eye is the dominant one. If the object moves the dominant eye is the closed one.

That's great to know! I'm cross dominant the same way, and I shoot guns and cameras both "left handed" even though I'm right handed. Could never figure out why. Started shooting left handed at arcade games in the ice rink when I was a kid.
I may be being a bit thick here but I've never considered left handed people using cameras before. How do you use a camera left handed? All the controls are set up for the right hand pretty much.
Actually, I'm suprised manufacturers never bring out a left handed version, doesn't seem fair actually!

I knew a keen photographer who only had one arm!! He used to hold a camera upside down if he was not using a tripod.

I bumped into Michelle Valberg about 3 years ago while shooting Snowy owls. She is a Nikon ambassador for Canada and a professional wildlife photographer. Her photos have been on postage stamps and Canadian currency coins. To read a little more about Michelle's accomplishments, (if interested):

I used to use my left eye (dominant). When I began to shoot with 400mm+ telephotos and zooms I switched to my right eye.

it somewhat surprises me that they don’t make ambi bodies that are mirrored physical layouts with software selectable “handedness”

Most tools are designed for right-handed people. We basically adapt to use our right hand as needed, whether we want to or not.

I am right eye dominant so, I use my right eye for the VF. To find out which eye is dominant, outstretch your arm with a finger pointing upwards and use that finger to try to block your sight with both eyes open of a vertical line on a wall or something. It won't be 100% successful but you can mostly do it. When you have it mostly "blocking" the object, alternate closing left and then right eye. The eye that has the closest effect on blocking the object is your dominant eye.

I use my left eye because my right eye is much weaker.

Slightly broadening the topic out my left eye is extremely weak to the extent I cannot read the large top letter on an opticians test chart with it.
An interesting side effect is that I have to live without binocular vision and to some extent recognise detail based on colour – very helpful when searching, for flowers like orchids.

I use my right eye because I'm right eye dominant. I'm also right handed. I can only close one eye, my left. My family members can blink both eyes back and forth. I can only do my left closed. I think my muscles in my right cheek are lacking. 🤷‍♀️

It is a very curious and interesting effect. I think that when taking a photo, if a person is right-handed and uses his left eye or vice versa, it does not affect the result, but here is the curious thing: if you are right-handed and you shoot a handgun, you will always use your right eye. It has never been seen that in that case someone holds the gun in their right hand and aims with their left eye, the same if it is the other way around. Strange effect, isn't it?
