Lens Cover 800mm f6.3S PF Nikkor

Has anyone found a neoprene cover yet? It's probably too recent for a product to have been designed...

I've emailed OutdoorPhotogear, UK as much prefer their high quality Lenscoats, decent prices too.

LensCoat LCH3XLBK Hoodie XXX Large (Black) ... I went 1 size down from the one I had for 600 f4/E it is a bit shorter but works. The draw string hood that comes with it is very nice and padded but it does take up more space. I have the stock lens hood on the 800 with the lens strap attached and with the Z9 mounted and the Z9 covered with a lenscoat bodyguard pro all stashed into the very nice bag that comes with the 800. That is going inside a Think Tank Retro Duffel 75 with foam padding I added. The lenscoat hoodie and all my charging gear for Z9, D850, Z6II, emergency charging bank, head lamp and flash light, spare batteries etc are all in the Retro Duffle 75. All set to be loaded into the RV4 for drive to West Yellowstone on Sunday.

Hey there's a price to be paid for being a pioneer. Not an issue for those of us still waiting in line

I enjoy reading feedback and also problem solving from early owners and testers - including Steve's.
This includes the 400 f2.8S TC, which is out of my budget (besides paying off the 800). I preordered the 800 PF last year - on the very news of its pending existence. Being NPS also helps but the the primary strategy is to preorder as soon as possible.

Thanks for your feedback, I use one of these Neoprene hoods on the 180-400 - very useful.
In the absence of a neoprene kit for the 800 PF, I've taped camouflage self-adhesive bandage (buy it in gunshops) to cover and protect the larger front region and the hood. I had sufficient left over pieces of stick-on neoprene are protecting the key places closer to the mount. [update September, this temporary cover is still intact]

The owner of Outdoor Photography Gear emailed back yesterday, to say they are still finalizing a neoprene LensCoat - "...just starting the designs, but will be a couple of weeks currently..."

Check out lens caps and hoods at this site: https://www.zemlinphoto.com/
Made using a 3D printer by a (retired?) mechanical engineer. Just received my 800mm PF lens cap. Very well made. I have a Lenscoat Hoodie from my now sold Nikon 500mm f/4 E, but I prefer the Zemlin cap.
@zemlin I am a bit confused I am used to lens caps like this grabbing onto the filter threads in the front of a lens but the 800 PF does not have filter threads to how does it work on the Z800?

The cap has ridges just like smaller pinch caps, but with a stronger spring – and the ridges grip the rubber on the inside of the lens. Not with enough force to leave a mark though. It’s quite secure when installed.

Do you have any lens hoods for the Z lenses? I don't se them on your site!

Not yet. I have several options designed for the 400f/2.8 and have arrangement with an existing customer to confirm the fit - so that should be able to go live in the next couple of weeks. I should be able to make one for the 800, but with the factory bayonet arrangement I'll have to have my hands on the lens for that design. Also waiting to hear reports on how folks like the OE 800 hood. It's mighty short for an 800mm lens, but a lot of folks prefer a shorter hood. I'll make a replacement regardless once I get access to a lens - but if Nikon did a good job there might not be much demand.

OK! Ordered a couple caps and the Z9 eyepiece! Thanks!

I used a neoprene cover but had issues with putting stress on the lens hood when removing it. I went to a cloth cover with a drawstring instead. I have been able to use the cloth cover on multiple lens hoods.

Very short time, but so far I like the OE 800 hood. Suspect I’ll be ordering your 400/2.8 hood, but still waiting for the lens (NPS).

I use these on all of my lenses, brilliant quality at a great price!! scroll down to the bottom of the page and you will see one for the 800!!

I have used the Zemlin lens cap for weeks now and have not used the OEM or the neoprene one I have since getting the Zemlin .... easy on and off takes up no extra space when installed and it just works great.

Thanks for the order. With any luck I'll have it headed your way by Monday. I've been running a week lead time, but orders have slowed a bit and I'm getting caught up.
I received my lens cap and it “fits like a glove”. Definitely high quality material and construction. OEM cloth hood is officially retired and back in the ordinal box. Zemlinphoto, sign me up because I will be a steady customer.

Karl,

Does the lens cap for the Nikon 800 mm lens shown on your website fit the new Nikon Z mount 800 mm PF f6.3? Or only the older Nikon F mount 800 mm F5.6?

I received my Zemlin lens hood for my 500 mm PF. Like it a lot. Great improvement over the OEM hood. Also got the Z9 eyepiece to use with a ThinkTank rain cover. Looks nice, although I have not had a chance to try it out yet.

He has both. https://www.zemlinphoto.com/product...rue&sa=false&sbp=false&q=false&category_id=57
When you go to the 800mm lens cap you have to select which one you want in the box that says select one.
