Sometimes we shoot with long glass because we are far away.
It’s a mistake! If the subject is small enough to fit in the WA-S box, or just about that size, then its too far out and the picture will be a blob of mushy pixels. Let it be 500, 600, or 800mm. Its a waste.

The only good idea in that situation is to track/pan the subject/bird, if/when it comes closer, 1) your know it, and 2) you don’t need to begin with the AF process which sometimes has the lens travel from one extreme to the other resulting in a missed shot.
