EaseUS, on Mac, works on external media. I recovered some vids last week simply by hooking it up to my Osmo Pocket 3 (microsd). I have the paid version.

Great and thanks......I was just playing with the EaseUS and it is seeing all the files, video included. Better interface than Photo Recovery, at least for the trial versions.
Let us know if you are able to recover your files. This is something that may come up for many of us at some point, but hopefully not.

Odd, every time I've used Recuva it asks what I'm searching for (picture in my case) and then asks if it's on a media card.

Regarding recovery software, if you buy a SanDisk Pro (extreme?) series card, you get a one year SanDisk recovery software liscense for free.
I've had mixed results with Recuva and I scanned cards with it, but best results were with Rescue PRO Deluxe (you used to get a free license with some Sandisk cards) and Ashampoo Photo Recovery. Both found all files but one was faster and I preferred the UI of the slower one. No, I can't remember which was which.

You still get those from SunDisk, never needed one so far. But good to have anyway!
