Meter and bbf

If you would like to post, you'll need to register. Note that if you have a BCG store account, you'll need a new, separate account here (we keep the two sites separate for security purposes).

I have a Nikon d810
How do I meter and use bbf at the same time? I run out of thumbs.
How do I lock the meter then use the bbf?
Does Steve have a video relating to this?
Activating the back button AF-ON control also activates the meter, you don't need to do a shutter half press to activate the meter in a Nikon DSLR. Actually any of a number of control buttons will activate the meter in addition to the shutter release half press. If you're talking about activating a specific metering mode like changing to spot metering when the camera is set to matrix metering then you can assign a front button like the FN or PV button so that spot metering is active while that front button is pressed regardless of how you activate the AF.

If you still find the meter times out faster (or slower) than you like you can adjust the Standby Timer in the D810 menu to control how long the meter stays active after each button press. Menu item C2 sets the Standby (meter and lens VR) timeout.
