Not found much info digging on the web: Perhaps someone who has flown widely (EU/US) with it will chime in?

In the U.S. you won't have any problems (unless it's a small region jet). However depending on your class of service you might run into an issue in the EU. I know a person who uses the FirstLight 46L with no issues when he travels to Eastern Africa a couple times a year. However the 46L dimensions are a tad small than the Backlight 36L.

Thanks, I have emailed thinkTank. Also just read this, couple of years out of date but likely still relevant, if anything the airline list is useful to check on each individually: https://www.minaal.com/en-gb/blogs/...ou-need-to-know-about-european-carry-on-sizes

One thought that crossed my mind was to take an inset such as the XL RCI here: https://www.nya-evo.com/collections/removable-camera-insert-rci/products/xl-rci-gen-3 as carry on, and have the main bag folded in with the regular luggage. Either that or buy a smaller bag altogether that allows you to carry on with your camera and lens etc unattached.

Apolgies to OP if this has gone a tad off topic!
