I've recently pre-ordered the Nikon 7Zii via NPS with the new battery grip. It seems the 1/4" thread on the adapter would not be an option to place a temporary tripod mounting plate as it seems the grip will get in the way. Really Right Stuff does not have a plate at this time for the battery grip, L-Bracket or otherwise.
So the question/s are. Would that adapter mount on the FTZ be un-usable with the battery grip attached? If so I'm guessing that I would get a generic plate for the battery pack? I'll be spending about 2 months in Yellowstone shortly after I get (hope to get) the camera so want to have something to use until an L-Bracket is available.
I do have mounting plates on my longer F mount teles so that's not an issue.
