Nikon Z8 - CFexpress Type B Delkin Black Cards

If you would like to post, you'll need to register. Note that if you have a BCG store account, you'll need a new, separate account here (we keep the two sites separate for security purposes).

I check reviews and decide to go with Delkin Black CFExpress B. Off to BH I go...

I do a search for Delkin Black 650gb and there are THREE different models

Delkin Devices 650GB BLACK CFexpress Type B Memory Card

Delkin Devices 650GB BLACK G4 CFexpress Type B Memory Card

Delkin Devices 650GB BLACK 4.0 CFexpress Type B Memory Card (new release?)

I'm confused. I have a Nikon Z8 and shoot birds at 20fps burst mode 100% of the time. Not sure which to get - the first seems the most expensive, the last seems the newest.

Has anyone been down this road before? Appreciate any feedback!

The G4 is just marketing info, it has nothing to do with the PCIe being used.

No camera on the market can use PCIe 4 at the moment, so as far as speeds in your Z8 or Z9 it won't matter which one you get.

However! If you have a USB 4.0 Card Reader such as the Prodigal one, then the read speeds to your PC/Mac are almost doubled.

I have a ProGrade Digital 512GB 4.0 Card (the gold one) and while the write speeds are slow (by comparison) at around 850m the read speeds are almost 3000.

As such the only advantage a PCIe 4.0 card has is the sustained read speed WITH a compatible card reader AND a compatible host port on your computer.

Hope that makes sense
