NYA-EVO 50C backpack

If you would like to post, you'll need to register. Note that if you have a BCG store account, you'll need a new, separate account here (we keep the two sites separate for security purposes).

I’ve had the NYA-EVO 60C for about 9 mos. It is extremely well made and quite comfortable to wear. I hauled 40lbs of gear and water all over in Glacier NP without any discomfort. I have all the insert sizes and currently use the XL for carrying the 800z. The lens hood has to be reversed. When on longer hikes I use the medium insert with the largest lens being the 100-400z. So there is room for lunch, water and misc clothing items. It sits well on my hips. Very comfortable. I highly recommend it.

I’m sure the 50c is just as nice. It appears the largest difference from the 60c besides size is the roll up dry bag opens directly into the body cavity on the 50c.

While I purchased mine directly from the MFG, Hudson Henry sells these and has numerous videos discussing them.

I am also in the market and have been looking at these packs. I currently have a Gura Gear. It is a great camera bag, but not a very good back pack for any reasonable hike.

I can hike all day with my Osprey Stratos. We should all lobby Osprey to make a camera pack.

Thank you for all your responses. I ended up ordering the NYA-EVO 50C with the large RCI through Kickstarter. The price will only be about $26 more than the 36L with the large insert. Missed the early bird portion because I wanted to try the Shimoda Explore 35L. Liked there pack with the medium insert, but found that using a large insert might be difficult to use; tight fit and back flap wouldn't open enough to access the large insert.

I was also looking into converting my comfortable day pack into a camera bag by buying/making inserts. May follow up on this when I need to carry a heavier load that won't fit in the 50C.

I came to the same conclusion; camera bags are mostly uncomfortable to carry due to their design and back packs are comfortable but inconvient/difficult to use for photography.

I have been on the hunt for a new bag for a few weeks and happened across the Nya-Evo 50C kickstarter. That took me down the rabbit hole of comparing a bunch of Nya vs Shimoda's etc.. and after all was said and done and really looking at the 50C's details, the 50C ticks all the boxes for me. It ticked boxes I didn't even know I had boxes for. So yesterday I made the jump with both feet and pledged. I am looking forward to June.

Now I just need to decide on the color :D

I ordered one as well last week (as an alternative size to my 36C). I think I am going to go with the Pine Green color. (y)

I think I would choose blue if that was an option, but I went back to the details and it says "2 color options to choose from- Graphite (Black) | Pine (Green)"

So it's gonna be green I think.

I am looking for a bag to travel to Africa with that can hold my 2 Z8’s , Z 100-400, Z 600 f4 TC- preferably with lenses attached to bodies. How do you think the Nya 60c would handle this?
I really like that access to the main compartment is on the back so that the straps don’t sit on the ground when you open the bag.

I think so…but you will need the extra large insert…but the XL does take up the entire backpack. Their site says it will take the 600TC with body attached.

I have the 60C with all the inserts. The XL holds my Z9 with 800 6.3 lens attached, which I believe is similar to the 600TC in size. It takes up the entire right side of the bag and I find it best to gain access to it from the top zipper. Just too tall to pull it out through the big opening on the back.

On the left side I have the 100-400 at the top which for the most part needs to come out through the top as well. Below that I have the Z105; Z24-120; Z14-24. That takes up the entire left side. Even if you don't have lenses below the 100-400 I'm not sure it would fit attached to your Z8. I don't have that camera, but that side of the XL insert is pretty narrow. Just not sure it would allow the body to be attached.

Thank you. That is very helpful.

Yip, I can confirm it can hold that equipment given you have the XL insert.
