The bird seems relatively in focus. I would say that you masked the subject and/or the background but overdid it so that it looks like you just pasted the bird onto the background. I assume you lightened up the bird independently so the background lighting seems at variance with the subject. I mask the background or the subject all the time, but the trick is that you need to be very subtle in making changes independently or else, like here, you end up with an image that looks like you pasted the bird into a stock background.
