I have difficulty photographing these birds. Not sure if it is because of dynamic range, feather structure on the head or what.
Any advice would be welcome.

Nice images. I would try to shoot in better lighting-these shots the lighting is too harsh and too shadowy for me. Early morning and late afternoon are best times to shoot in a sunny day.

Also, I’m not a huge fan of the backgrounds. All the shots are too busy with too many branches and/or distracting backgrounds.
