Parrotfishes

Parrotfish are an interesting and colorful group. They have sharp, parrot-like mouthes used to gnaw on the hard coral heads (see Photos). They come in many varieites and here are a few. They can get defensive on rare occasion and that sharp mouth can inflict damage.
One image shows a fish which escaped an attack, but is not likely to survive for long. The reef is a hard place to live.

Thank you. Yes, they do shield themselves when sleeping. Only saw that once, but do not believe I have a photo.
