Anyone here from Toronto have a local printer they can recommend for high-end fine art prints?
If you would like to post, you'll need to register. Note that if you have a BCG store account, you'll need a new, separate account here (we keep the two sites separate for security purposes).
I really like direct printing on metal for astro shots and other images with very bright specular highlights or very colorful and bright images. But for more traditional landscape and wildlife work with subtle tone transitions, often shot in softer light I prefer printing on traditional papers. It comes down to what you like and the kind of images and kind of light you shoot in but direct printing on metal can be a very nice option for certain images.I’ve seen metal prints. Im Highly interested as they are light weight so easy to hang, and they seem to POP.
Anything you notice that’s a trade off with metal prints?
I’ve never seen canvas from online or a drug store.Drugstore or cheap online canvas gives canvas a bad reputation. Premium fine art canvas printed directly onto the canvas then mounted on a stretcher frame is quite beautiful. As is a silver halide paper print permanently bonded to the canvas substrate.
