Question Re: Purchase of Used Z9 From MPB

Hallo Mike,

I have made 6 transactions since 2021 in which I bought 2 lenses and teleconverters and sold a lot of old lenses and 2x cameras there.
All transactions went smoothly.
The things I bought were exactly according to their specifications.
When selling, they usually valued my items better than I did and paid me more money.
All transactions were completed within a very short time.
We get a 12-month guarantee from mpb in Germany.
Like any online purchase, it can be cancelled for 14 days without giving any reason.

I would go there again and again.
Hope this can help you 🖖

Within the last month, I traded in some equipment and purchased a used Z8 body from MPB. Arrived well packaged, "like new" was a fair description of the condition. Price for used Z8 are only a handful of $100 less than new but they gave me much more for my trade ins than Adorama or B&H quoted. In fact, they increased the offer for my equipment after they inspected it. My unit is not grey market. I know shutter count means less on a mirrorless camera, but it was 968 images recorded so my unit was essentially unused.

That's how I got my used Z6, made in Japan with not even 7k shots on the shutter. Great deal for barely 900 bucks, and that is before all the stuff I sold, mostly back, to MPB at not much of a loss.

Only reason my three Z-mount lenses and Z30 are new is that new, with some discounts, they were cheaper than used at MPB at the time. That changed since April, but what can you do when your main body dies.

I'd recommend MPB anytime for basically everything.

I recently purchased a 70-200 mm z from them, it looks and works as new. It was packed in the original box and had a USA warranty card in the box. I was pleased with their service and turn and turn around times.

After much consideration, I've finally decided to purchase a used Z9 as a back-up body to my first Z9, and am considering purchasing from MPB. They have several listed as "like new" and "excellent" condition. The prices are significantly lower than the used Z9s listed on B&H, and around $1,300 - $1,500 (US) less than a new one.
I have never purchased from MPB and would like to hear from those of you who have personal knowledge of the company. My main concerns are:
USA model vs. grey market (I'm in the US)
Shutter count
Warranty - I know it's 6 months, but how reliable is it?
Pros, Cons, any other thoughts on what I should consider?
Many thanks!
I purchased my backup z9 from MPB. Chose one that was described as like new. Came with all the paperwork and looked brand new. I would do it again.

I used MBP’s warranty. It was a good experience. I had purchased a used 105 Nikkor macro and a day before the 6 month warranty expired the focus ring froze. Never was dropped or exposed to any severe environments. I emailed they sent me a prepaid shipping label and offered a refund or buy a replacement lens. Very smooth transaction and I was happy especially since used equipment usuall has zero warranty. I would not hesitate to buy from the a

I feel its not about the dealer so much as their just a means of achieving an outcome, At this level of tool, $1300 $1500 is small change, personally I would buy new.
You can always bargain hard on a new Z9, i mean the Z9 is hitting the used market harder in unit volume and prices are softening, as well as the scent of a new Z9 is in the wind.

Don't get me wrong I am all for buying second hand even grey if its worth while, i mean i bought my D3X at half price used but directly from a NPS pro wedding photographer, but with mirror less and the history of issues with Nikon and their QC problems especially with the Z9 we have all forgotten about, i would if it was me personally stay new for the warranty, again unless the savings were much larger. With the Z9 its more a buyers market really.

Only an opinion

Z9 shutter count shouldn't be a problem - No shutter.
Gray market probably means a non Nikon warranty.
I'd consider a new Z8 - apart from the battery they are vert similar ...🦘
